Tollywood’s latest romantic fare Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty, starring Naveen Polishetty and Anushka in the lead roles, managed to post good numbers on its opening day despite releasing on a partial holiday and that too on a Thursday. What is more impressive is that the film weathered the box office storm created by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan which embarked on a historic start in all territories.
As per trade reports, Jawan took a record-breaking start in Telugu States among dubbing films. Also, it registered a sensational opening in USA. Braving the extraordinary performance of Jawan, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty collected promising numbers in A centres of Andhra and Telangana. In USA, the film grossed more than $ 300K on its first day including Wednesday premieres which is a notable feat considering the heavy competition from Jawan.
Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty secured encouraging reviews and decent word of mouth despite its slow-paced narration. The collections picked up by evening shows in A centres as families and youth flocked to theatres to witness this entertaining film.
Naveen Polishetty’s flawless performance and Anushka’s dazzling screen presence turned out to be the selling points for this heartwarming rom-com. Going by the trend of bookings, it looks like the film will have strong footfalls at the ticket windows despite Jawan.
