Balu, Where Have You Gone?: Ilayaraja

Balu’s passing has broken many hearts and the fact that he is not here with us anymore is much more shattering. Film actors Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh, and other celebrities like K Vishwanath, Sirivennela who had close association and bonding with Balu broke into tears while talking about their anguish to learn Balu leaving them.

Ilayaraja, the music maestro shared his emotion in a video after hearing the news of SPB’s death. SP Bala Subrahmanyam is Ilayaraja’s best friend and their bonding was for decades and the songs from their combination are evergreen. The legend music director is seen asking Balu ‘Where have you gone?’ in a shiver stuck voice.

Ilayaraja asks ‘dear friend, I said I will be waiting for you and asked you to come back soon. But you did not listen to me and where have you gone? Did you go to sing for the Gandharvas? I am not able to see anything in this world now. I am speechless. Everything has a limit, but the pain and vaccum with your leaving us have no limit’.

When Balu was admitted to the hospital and when the condition was critical, Ilayaraja in his video asked Balu to come back healthy and he would be waiting for him.
