Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie, ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue,’ already made it to the headlines when the team replaced the word India with Bharat from the title. Now, the makers have launched the film’s trailer, which hints at an intense rescue thriller based on real-life incidents.
The film is based on a rescue mission carried out by Jaswant Singh Gill, whose unwavering courage saved the lives of 64 miners trapped deep within the coalfields of Raniganj. Akshay Kumar steps into the shoes of this real-life hero in the movie.
The trailer narrates the story in November 1989 when a devastating tragedy struck the Mahabir Colliery in Raniganj, West Bengal. While more than a hundred miners were rescued immediately, 65 miners remained trapped below ground, surrounded by rising floodwaters. It is when Gill took charge and conceived a groundbreaking plan to save all 65 trapped miners.
‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ is helmed by director Tinu Suresh Desai, known for his work on Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom.’ Produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film features Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Mukesh Bhatt, Akshay Verma, and Sudhir Pandey.
The film prepares for its theatrical release on October 6, 2023.
