Known for his family dramas, director Srikanth Addala impressed Telugu audiences with movies like Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu but took a big beating with Brahmotsavam. He then took a turn to direct the remake of Asuran, titled Narappa in Telugu, and then got a hangover of the eccentric action genre that is laced with a rustic look and massy feels. Here’s an exclusive interview of Srikanth Addala with Gulte’s Lokesh Bandi, uncovering various facts and findings.
Speaking about the title of this upcoming film “Peddha Kapu -1”, Addala reiterated that they have named the film with this only because an elder of a village would be called as Peddakapu in the Godavari region but nothing else. Speaking about caste-factor and feeling however, he added, “There is no wrong in having a caste or having caste feeling as long as you are selfless and honest. Castes are created only with the idea of bringing a self-help group together such that one would support each other”.
Talking about working with a newcomer again after Varun Sandesh (2nd film) and Varun Tej, the director stated that producer Miryala Ravinder Reddy asked him to launch his brother-in-law, and he found the youngster Virrat Karna impressive, and went ahead with the movie. “This is not the first story we have considered, but I’ve narrated a couple of love stories of which one takes place in London. But the producer picked up this script, so I went ahead”, Addala said.
When quizzed about how come most of the associates of star director Sukumar including Addala, Buchi Babu, Palnati Surya Pratap, and Srikanth Odela have turned out directors, while associates of other star directors are struggling to get projects, the director stated that long back he has an interesting memory to share in this connection. What’s that memory? Watch the full interview right now to know more about such interesting trivia and other stuff.
