Muthiah Muralidaran is a legend in the world of cricket. His biopic is titled ‘800’. Ahead of the film’s release, the Sri Lankan icon has spoken about the nature of the MS Sripathy-directed biopic.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, the top-tier cricketer said that he wanted the biopic to be as grounded in reality as possible. He didn’t want his story to be spiced up in the name of commercialization or dramatization.
“The film shows the reality as it happened. Some things that have been shown have never been made public before. My life is like a movie in itself. A lot of incidents, both happy and sad ones, have transpired in my life at different stages of life,” Muralidaran says, suggesting that ‘800’ is a bona fide depiction of the same.
Madhur Mittal, who played Muralidaran, is said to have given his best shot. “He is about 70% close to me. I never trained him. In fact, I was not physically present both during his training sessions and during the making of the biopic barring a couple of occasions,” Muralidaran says.
The film is going to be released in theatres on October 6 in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The distribution rights to ‘800’ have been acquired by Tollywood producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad of Sridevi Movies for Telugu, Tamil and Hindi versions.
