Legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralidharan is coming up with his biopic, titled ‘800’, this October 6th and he speaks to Gulte.com’s Lokesh Bandi in this context. That was a terrific interview coming up as the legendary cricketer speaks about his famous 800 test wickets and many other controversies.
In fact, Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi was supposed to star in this biopic and a motion poster was also released during the days of IPL, but then, huge controversies broke out in Tamilnadu regarding Muralidharan’s pro-Sinhalese attitude despite being a Tamil origin person. That led to the exit of Sethupathi from the project, and Muralidharan explains the whole story behind it.
At the same time, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board is upset with Muralidharan after he coached the Australian cricket team, and that’s when we asked if they have permitted him to shoot the movie in their country. Back in 1995, it was in Australia that Muralidharan’s bowling action was subjected to scrutiny and they alleged him chucking. Also comes the doubts as to why the cricketer met the LTTE leaders back then, creating a controversy of sorts. Why did he meet them in the first place and how?
800, is hitting cinemas on October 6th and our interview also features the lead actor of the movie Madhur Mittal who stepped in the shoes of silver screen Muralidharan. Do watch it right now.
