One of the biggest shockers that the trailer of Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon’s “Ganpath” gave to Telugu audiences, especially Prabhas fans is its closeness with the story and character-designs of the upcoming “Kalki 2898 AD”. Both films are set in a futuristic era and the leading man has a divine connection to it. But then there is something else that is worth discussing.
Whether Tiger and Kriti’s characters look more like Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s characters or Amitabh Bachchan is playing a similar role, or the futuristic weapons and vehicles are also created in a similar manner, the visual effects of “Ganapath” look like a low budget imitation of the Prabhas’ starrer.
Now that only teasers of these two films got released, and with Ganapath releasing in October itself, it will be to early to worry about the content of these two movies. However, Kalki’s extremely realistic graphics are going to create a major impact and that’s where we should actually appreciate Nag Ashwin’s work and the huge investment being made by Ashwini Dutt and his other partners.
At the same time, almost all the futuristic films that have been made since the 1950s have similar content. From many timeless classics made in Hollywood including the recent ‘Dune’, to Indian movies like Aditya 369, it is always a crisis in the future that sees the rise of a depressed as a hero. So there is no point in discussing about the storylines of Ganpath and Kalki, rather than waiting to see the screenplay, narrative and twists of these movies.
