Late actress Sridevi passed away in 2018. The superstar actress’s sudden demise caused a sensation, and there were many speculations about her death. Her husband Boney Kapoor who maintained his silence all these years finally spoke about it. Sridevi died in her Presidential Suite at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai. She reportedly died due to drowning in the bathtub.
Boney Kapoor revealed why he has not spoken about it all these years, how he was interrogated with lie detector tests, and many more.
Boney Kapoor reveals that Sridevi used to do extremely strict diets that excluded salt. This resulted in her experiencing blackouts sometimes. Boney Kapoor recalls when Nagarjuna shared a similar experience with her where Sridevi fell in the bathroom and broke her teeth.
The star producer Boney Kapoor spoke to Indian Express and he said, ‘It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media. And they discovered there was no foul play. I went through all the tests, including lie detector tests and all those things. And then, of course, the report clearly stated it was accidental.’
Sridevi was still following a strict diet regimen at the time of her passing. ‘She often used to starve, she wanted to look good. She wanted to ensure she was in good shape and looked good on-screen. From the time she was married to me, she had blackouts on a couple of occasions, and the doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue,’ he said.
Boney says he was aware of Sridevi’s strict diet and often requested their doctor to recommend adding salt to her diet. ‘Unfortunately, she didn’t take this seriously, and he also thought maybe it couldn’t be this serious until the incident happened’, said Boney.
