Brace up for a heavy dose of father-daughter sentiment

Human relationships often form the core narrative for emotional dramas. Among all, the father-daughter sentiment is one of the most explored emotions in regional films. Over the years, the audience witnessed numerous timeless classics that are centered on father-daughter bonding.

Once again, moviegoers are going to be swept away by a heavy dose of this sentiment in the coming days as some of the soon-to-be-released big-ticket films, though on surface level appear as commercial potboilers, have an underlying emotion based on a father-daughter relationship.

Upcoming South Indian biggies like Leo, Saindhav, Bhagavanth Kesari and Hi Nanna have a touching plot point that will tug the heartstrings of viewers. The driving factor behind the stories of these films is said to be the relationship between a doting father and his traumatized daughter. Scenes between the lead protagonist and his daughter are very much the soul of the films.

As per reliable sources, Vijay will play father to a teenage daughter in Leo. Though the Lokesh Kanagaraj directional is billed as a gangster drama, there is said to be a strong dose of emotion deftly woven into the story based on this sentiment.

With Bhagavanth Kesari, director Anil Ravipudi is presenting an emotionally charged family drama with Balakrishna’s trademark mannerisms. Sree Leela is reportedly playing his daughter like role. In Saindhav, Venky is on a serious mission against the abuse of a costly medicine that is used to treat a rare disease in kids. Baby Sara’s character is the heart of Saindhav. The emotional bonding between Venky and Sara is said to be the USP for the film.

The title ‘Hi Nanna’ of Nani’s next outing itself drops enough hints that the film is going to be a soul-stirring drama that revolves around a single father and his adorable daughter.

All these films are set for release in the next three months. What remains to be seen is how far can these poignant stories succeed at the box office.
