Balika Vadhu director sells veggies at Azamgarh in UP

The pandemic-induced lockdown has rendered many jobless making it hard to make both the ends meet. Not just commoners, a few people from the show business too faced these problems. Director of TV serial Balika Vadhu, Ram Vriksha Gaur, began selling vegetables in his hometown, Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, after finding no work in during the Coronavirus crisis.

When asked by the media, he said that he had come to his hometown for a film recce. According to the plans chalked down before the pandemic, he was scheduled to work on a Bhojpuri film and then on a Hindi cinema.

But, the lockdown imposed following the spread of Coronavirus, he could not return to Mumbai. He said, “The project we were working on was halted and the producer said it would take another year or even more to get back to work.”

With no work on hand, Gaur took on his father’s business of selling vegetables on a handcart. “I am familiar with the business and have no regrets,” he said.

He expressed hope that he would one day return to Mumbai. Further, he said: “I have my own house in Mumbai and I am confident that I will return one day. Till then, I am here doing what I can.”

Hailing from a humble background, Ram Vriksha Gaur travelled to Mumbai to start his career on the small screen with the help of writer Shahnawaz Khan.

He said, “I worked in the light department and then in the production department of TV serials. I became an assistant director in the production of many serials first, then worked as the episode director and unit director for Balika Vadhu.” He also worked as an assistant director for several films.
