Responding to the urgent plea filed by actress Rakul Preet Singh, Delhi High Court has served notices to the Centre. The court asked the Centre to respond. Earlier in her urgent plea, Rakul had sought an interim direction to respondents to ensure that media doesn’t broadcast any programme, publish or print any article/write-ups relating to her in a drugs case.
In her petition to the High Court, Rakul claimed that she doesn’t smoke or drink. Rakul stated that she is a “witness” in Rhea’s Drugs case. She alleged that “media” is damaging her reputation and asked the court to direct the media against “media trial”.
Alleging that news channels have invaded her privacy rights, Rakul said news channels have launched “bad propaganda” against her. Rakul asked the court to examine her statement to the NCB and cross check and see how news channels have published “fake news” and opted for ‘malicious broadcasting’.
