Not just the content itself, but there will be many factors that work for a movie to become a hit or a disaster. There were a few successful movies and a ton of disasters this year. Now at the end of the year, let us see the success rate of Mega heroes with this year’s releases.
Megastar Chiranjeevi started this year with a blockbuster Waltair Veerayya, a mass action film bringing the vintage vibes of Chiru in a commercial template. Though the movie has a few cliched elements, the movie went on to become a big blockbuster.
It was Virupaksha that followed the Waltair Veerayya success, and this horror thriller also turned out to be a surprise hit. Virupaksha emerged as a proper comeback for Sai Dharam Tej and the movie garnered positive reports from all corners. Sai Dharam has another success with BRO, of course with Pawan Kalyan factor working for the most of its success.
That was the success streak of Mega Heroes in 2023 but their movies released in the second half ended in big disappointment. Megastar’s Bholaa Shankar has disaster written all over it. Right from the teaser till the release, Bholaa Shankar is nothing but a 90s movie beaten to a pulp many a time. Obviously, it did not enthrall the audience and instead got trolled big time.
Varun tej’s Gandheevadhaari Arjuna was released in August and it ended up as a colossal failure. Though it was made as a slick action thriller, the plot and narrative could not match the stylish making. And finally, Uppena fame Vaishnav Tej’s Aadikesava was released after multiple postponements and it was ripped apart by critics and audiences alike for its ultra-poor content and over-the-top scenes.
On the whole, Mega Heroes managed to have a successful first half in 2023, while the second half concluded with a bunch of disasters.
