In an era where three-hour films are a rarity, ‘Animal’ will grace the screens this Friday with a staggering 3-hour and 21-minute runtime. The film, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, features Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna Shetty in the lead.
Unlike conventional movie durations of two to two-and-a-half hours, ‘Animal’ poses a unique challenge for audiences and theater owners. Viewers accustomed to shorter screenings must prepare for an extended cinematic experience while theaters adjust schedules to accommodate the film’s lengthy runtime.
With the impracticality of fitting ‘Animal’ into regular show timings due to its extended duration, theaters opt for early morning shows, starting as early as 10-10:30 am, a departure from the usual post-11 am commencement. This adjustment is necessary to ensure that all scheduled shows conclude at a reasonable hour, avoiding screenings extending past midnight.
For venues opting to host five shows, the day begins as early as 7 o’clock in the morning, presenting logistical challenges and increased operational costs, including heightened electricity expenses.
Despite these hurdles, the immense craze surrounding the film is expected to offset any potential losses, with the film’s box office collections anticipated to compensate for any incurred expenses.
‘Animal’ will have a pan-India release on the 1st of December.
