‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ aka ‘Aquaman 2′ is hitting cinemas on December 21st/22nd across the globe, and that’s the same date the likes of Prabhas’ Salaar and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki are hitting the marquee in India and across the world. Surely Salaar would unleash its power at the Indian box office, but trade analysts feel that both these two biggies should be a little cautious of the Hollywood biggie.
While Aquaman 1 collected only ₹55 crores nett in India, trade analysts are predicting that Aquaman 2 might clock nearly ₹100 crores collection. Though this presence of Aquaman 2 won’t affect the projected ₹1000+ crores revenues of Salaar (or Dunki), but then, with Aquaman 2 releasing in five languages, and Hollywood studios doing extensive promotions to sell tickets, surely the film poses a major threat in A-centres. And if the talk of Aquaman 2 is great, surely that will show its impact, depending upon the talk of Salaar and Dunki.
On the other hand, in the USA, Aquaman 2 will have an upper hand for sure, other movies like Ferrari and Wonka are also getting terrific attention. But then, when it comes to Salaar and Dunki, Salaar is racing ahead with almost 800 confirmed locations, while Dunki is right now confirmed in 150+ locations and nearly 350 shows only.
