Q) What’s happening with Goodachari 2?
We’re nearing the end of the Goodachari 2 schedule, aiming for a top-notch spy film that goes beyond typical slow-motion shots and sunglasses. We’re striving for an effortlessly cool vibe, transcending the leather jacket and posed cool look. Our approach involves a unique blend of virtual reality and massive sets, with the hero using cutting-edge technology. The film spans five countries, and we’re hoping for a James Bond Skyfall pattern – if it turns out well, you can call it so.
Q) You’ve initiated the trend of heroes turning writers, so what do see it like now?
I initiated the trend of heroes writing their films, not as an intentional path-setting move but out of necessity, as I wasn’t receiving scripts I resonated with. (Is film education essential?) Film education is beneficial, but many successful filmmakers argue that film school isn’t essential. For me, it helped in compartmentalizing roles – thinking like a writer while writing and purely as an actor on set.
Q) Tell us about your new film #SeshExShruti
Regarding #SeshExShruti, it’s a high-intensity, emotionally charged action film with a touch of romance. Kshanam cinematographer Shaniel Deo and I co-wrote it. On choosing Shaniel, our connection goes back to growing up in the same U.S. locality.
Q) Why did you opt for Shruti Haasan?
Shruti joined the project not because of #SeshEXShruti being a pan-India movie or because she never thought why to pair with Sesh who is a much smaller hero than Prabhas (Shruti is Salaar heroine). She picked the role because it is intriguing. In Telugu cinema, we often prioritize commercial aspects over characters for Shruti, and that unexplored acting side of her will be seen in this movie.
SeshExShruti and Goodachari 2 cater to a broader audience, transcending regional boundaries. The writing, shooting treatment, and audience reactions differ between Hindi and Telugu versions. Goodachari 2 is set for release in the second half of 2024.
Q) Your close relationship with Major Sandeep’s parents is remarkable. What drives your continued connection with them?
Concerning Major Sandeep Trust, I offered to make a donation, even before I’ve begun the shoot of “Major”. Sandeep’s parents warned at that time that they would throw me out of the house. That’s where our bonding started. “Are you expecting a National Award for Major?” Achieving a national award for Major would be great, but I’m happy that the film achieved what it has to do with the audience. Their love is immense.
Q) Now that you write most of your films, are you open to collaborating with other writers/directors easily?
I don’t say ‘wow’ for any script initially, not even for my own. Hit 2 under Sailesh’s direction made me happy, and I’m doing a cameo in Hit 3 directed by Nani. There might be Hit 4, where Sailesh plans to showcase leads for Nani, Vishwak Sen, and myself.
Q) Your journey from a ₹1 crore hero to a ₹100 crore hero is widely recognized. What are your thoughts on this progression?
Regarding being a ₹1 crore to ₹100 crore hero, my focus is always on delivering quality rather than getting caught up in numbers. a
Q) What is your birthday resolution?
My birthday resolution is to enjoy the journey rather than obsessing over the destination.
Q) The most asked routine question now- When are you getting married?
As for marriage, I’m currently single but not ready to mingle. Actually not getting enough time to do work and not catching up on good sleep too. Where can I find time to be in a relationship now?
With that, we’ve wrapped our interaction with Adivi Sesh.
