Usually while making a film at a pan-India scale, these days filmmakers love to scatter big names from all the tinsel towns into it, especially from Bollywood. We have Rajamouli casting the likes of Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt for the same reason. However, ‘Salaar’ maker Prashanth Neel has a different opinion on this.
Except for the senior actor Tinu Anand, there are no Bollywood stars at all in Salaar if you look at the star cast. It has the likes of Prabhas, Jagapathi Babu, Prithviraj, Shruti Haasan, Bobby Simha, and Shreya Reddy and most of them are Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam stars. Speaking about this factor, Prashanth Neel stated that the world he’s creating should be believable to the native audience first, while the drama will have universal appeal throughout the country.
“If you want to make a movie successful at the pan-India level, first you have to win the audience at your home. At every stage, I’ve approached Salaar like a Telugu film only, while the film got marketed on a bigger scale because we have the likes of KGF and Baahubali on our back” says Prashanth Neel.
Well, every legendary filmmaker will have his own style of creating, casting and delivering, and Prashanth Neel is another such gem.
