Suppression On Salaar Release; Producers Take Bold Decision

Published by

Bollywood critics and media have been oppressing South films for some time, unable to tolerate the success of regional films. The suppression did not stop for Prabhas too. His new release, Salaar is also facing this suppression in terms of theatre allocation. The Bollywood distributors are being partial and giving an edge to Dunki over Prabhas starrer.

As a result, the producers of the latter have decided not to provide copies of their film to PVR-Inox and Miraj theaters in certain states. Amit Sharma, Miraj Group CEO, expressed his confusion over the makers of Salaar feeling hurt, stating that allotting the number of shows should rest with the exhibitor.

Chaluve Gowda of Hombale Films, the production house behind Salaar, confirmed that the film will not be released in PVR-Inox and Miraj outlets in some locations due to perceived unfair treatment.

Gowda stressed the importance of fairness in the industry, stating, “We want the game to be fair.” He mentioned that if exhibitors adjust their plans, the makers of Salaar would release the film in their outlets.

The Dunki team’s perspective is based on being the first to announce, claiming priority, and Shah Rukh Khan is coming with two Rs 500 crore films.

Kamal Gianchandani, President of the Multiplex Association of India and Chief Business Planning and strategy of PVR Ltd, addressed allegations on PVR Inox related to “Salaar,” stating, “We have come across some absurd internet posts regarding unfair showcasing practices at PVRINOX. No one has greater respect and appreciation for all the Producers releasing their films in our theatres than all of us at PVRINOX. Commercial disagreements are par for the course, with big films being released on the same date. Not the first time. Won’t be the last time. Everything will fall into place soon. Please put these ridiculous theories to bed.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki is set to release on December 21, while Prabhas-starrer “Salaar” will hit theaters a day later on December 22.
