In quite an expected way, five films are clashing at the Sankranthi 2024 box office, including Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Teja Sajja’s Hanu Man, Raviteja’s Eagle, Venkatesh’s Saindhav and Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga. However, though the producers of these movies are silent all this while, it looks like tension is building up among them owing to the lack of sufficient theatres for each film.
Though Guntur Kaaram has Dil Raju’s backing to the fullest, the same distributor is also releasing films like Saindhav and Hanu Man is distributed by Mythri. At the same time, Eagle has People Media securing theatres for a long time, while Naa Saaami Ranga has Nag’s own Annapurna distribution network coming to the rescue. But then, if Guntur Kaaram and Hanu Man release on the 12th, Eagle and Saindhav on the 13th, Naa Saami Ranga on 11th/14th, surely that will eat away at the revenues of each other. While everyone is questioning the producers about the same all this while, they used to say that, every film has its own space and defended their decision saying that they took a call over the release date almost 6 months ago.
But now, at a secret meeting of all the producers in this Sankranthi race, it is coming out that they are asking Hanu Man makers to go out of the fight. In fact, Hanu Man is the first film that actually locked the Jan 12th date, and many are wondering if that is ethically correct to ask the film to give up the release date. As Hanu Man makers are getting strong theatres in Bollywood for the same date, they are not ready to miss out on this opportunity. We have to see what happens now.
