Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal stoked several controversies as much as it broke the Box Office records. While a section of Bollywood complains about portraying the antagonist Bobby Deol from a minority community, one of the producers and Sandeep’s brother Pranay Reddy Vanga has given a solid counter.
In a fitting reply, Pranay asked in an interview, “Someone was complaining that we were not showing one community particularly. How many villains were portrayed with Bottu (Dindi) in the last twenty to thirty years and has anyone complained about it? Just because there is a minority involved, please don’t talk about whatever comes to mind.” Pranay said don’t divide people further on these lines and asked to watch cinema as cinema.
Overall, Animal continues to be in the limelight and hitting the headlines, thanks to its back-to-back controversies. Despite SRK’s Dunki and Prabhas Salaar, Animal is still doing decently at the Box Office. During the Christmas holiday, it did well as per trade reports. Despite being in its fourth weekend, it managed to get good footfalls.
So far, Animal is said to have collected over Rs 475 crore nett. It crossed this mark but the Rs 500 crore nett mark is a bit far from now. However, trade pundits say it is not impossible either. Let’s see where Animal’s closing figures end.
