Megastar Chiranjeevi recently addressed the ongoing controversy regarding theatre allocation for Sankranti releases, particularly for the film “Hanuman.” The actor made these remarks during the pre-release event of “Hanuman,” where he was the chief guest.
Chiranjeevi reassured producers that despite concerns about theatre availability, a film’s success ultimately depends on its content. He encouraged producers not to worry about immediate first-day collections, emphasizing that films with substance will find success over time.
Reflecting on the situation, Chiranjeevi mentioned an incident during the release of his film “Khaidi No. 150,” where he had a discussion with producer DilRaju. It was the same time when Balakrishna’s “Gautamiputra Satakarni,” had hit the screens too.
During that time, Chiranjeevi requested DilRaju to consider delaying the release of his production “Shatamanam Bhavathi,” considering it a risk for a small film to compete alongside big releases. However, DilRaju insisted that a film’s content would attract the audience, and all three films turned out to be successful.
Drawing from this experience, Chiranjeevi advised producers not to be overly concerned about the immediate competition for theatres, as quality content will eventually resonate with viewers. He expressed confidence that the audience will appreciate and watch films with substance, even if not on the first release day. Chiranjeevi also mentioned DilRaju’s name more than twice, emphasizing that he should have made the right decision in bringing up these releases for the festival.
However, social media is currently divided on these comments. A section of netizens say that Chiranjeevi is being all positive about the scenario, indirectly mentioning that Dil Raju must have done his job in ensuring a smooth release to everyone.
On the other hand, some say that Chiranjeevi indirectly took a dig at DilRaju because many in the industry believe that it is this producer who wanted HanuMan to get postponed and even allocated less theatres to HanuMan while giving more to Guntur Kaaram. Chiranjeevi could have indirectly hinted that even HanuMan is a small film but just like how Satamanam Bhavati did well, the Teja starrer might also recreate the same and it is more or less giving a reality check to DilRaju on his changed views over the time.
Whatever it may be, Chiranjeevi’s presence at the HanuMan event is going to help the makers in pushing the film forward ahead of its release. Now, its up to audiences to decide the film’s fate.
