In a major surprise, Prashanth Varma and Teja Sajja’s HanuMan have outperformed the opening weekend totals of KGF1 and Kantara Hindi versions, thus shocking even Bollywood trade pundits. Released on January 12th in more than 1000 locations in North India, HanuMan is now being hailed as the first hit of 2024 from Mumbai circles.
With a noteworthy collection of ₹12.2+ crores nett, comprising ₹2.15 crore on Friday, ₹4.05 crore on Saturday, and ₹6.06 crore on Sunday in the Hindi version alone, the film has proven its appeal across mass markets in the North, while multiplex business is also good. The lack of major releases until Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter release on January 25, might solidify HanuMan’s box office standing. As the film maintains its stronghold, it is poised to be a notable success in early 2024, which is why Bollywood is calling it the first hit.
The trade pundits are expecting that HanuMan might make around ₹40+ crores nett in its full run, while the numbers might bombard if luck favours the film more through word of mouth. On the other hand, the Telugu version is doing extremely well with the Nizam area reaching to breakeven of ₹6.5+ crores share in just 3 days of release.
