The ‘Deepfake’ video of National Crush Rashmika Mandanna has not only upset many, but also made many big stars like Amitabh Bachhan voice their opinion on the same. More than two months after a viral Deepfake video falsely depicting Rashmika Mandanna surfaced, Delhi Police apprehended the culprit finally.
Hemant Tiwari, DCP, IFSO Unit, confirmed the arrest of Eemani Naveen from Andhra Pradesh. Naveen, a Rashmika fan, created the video for social media traction and financial gain. The original clip featured British-Indian influencer Zara Patel entering an elevator, which was modified by the accused using AI-based DeepFake technology to superimpose Rashmika’s face. The arrest of the culprit adds a sigh of relief not only for Rashmika but for other Deepfake victims too.
Certainly, Rashmika’s fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as the culprit has been apprehended. Will this deter others?
