Going Homes & Taking Signatures – Should Guruji Leave It?

Published by

One of the main reasons that created instant negativity on Guruji for “Guntur Kaaram” is the fact that the storyline, at least the vital element of the narrative, is damn close to the previous films of the director. And that brings us to the discussion if star director Trivikram should leave his typical idea of ‘going homes and taking signatures’.

In films like Julayi, Attarintiki Daredi, Agnyaathavasi, and S/o Sathyamurthy, one could notice the fact that the protagonists go to some other home to achieve something. In Julayi he goes to hide, in Attariniki Daredi he goes to bring his aunt home, in Agnyaathavasi he comes home to set things right and in S//o Satyamurthy he goes to a home to get things done.

At the same time, there will be some links with the signatures too, like in Attarintiki Daredi the aunt signing hotel documents scene, and in S/o Satyamurthy’s the hero’s mission is to get a document signed. These elements are seen in Guntur Kaaram as well, as the opens with a ‘signature’ scene, which kicked off all the previous works of Trivikram back in the minds of the audience when they are watching it. While critics find it average to above average, the negativity exploded on social media because of this homes-signatures aspect, feel many.

As the director is trying to make his next a different one, whether it is a film with Allu Arjun, Nani or Venkatesh or any other hero, maybe he should avoid that repetitive touch. Let’s see what is Trivikram going to do.
