When star heroes’ daughters pursue acting careers, they are immediately scrutinized by the larger section of the audience. Every performance of theirs is vehemently judged by everyone. One actress who overcame this challenge and won the applause of the audience is Alia Bhatt who delivered thumping performances in films like Gully Boy and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
But one actress who is struggling to breach this challenge is Sara Ali Khan. More relevantly, the actress is being trolled for her weak performance in her latest film, Ae Watan Mere Watan which premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video.
After the film started to stream, the audience who watched her performance have started to give a thumbs down to Sara’s performance. The main critique is that Alia got the challenging role of playing a real-life pre-independence character who challenged the British establishment and launched a private radio channel of her own. The character had a lot of depth but Sara couldn’t match it with her performance and she lacked the nuances needed.
Sara is getting trolled by social media users for the lack of emotional depth in her performance while playing such a novel character. It is high time that the actress takes this criticism on a positive stride and works on improving her range as an actress. Even Alia was criticised in the early stages of her career for doing only commercial roles and lack of diversity in acting skills, but she proved her doubters wrong by challenging herself. Maybe Sara must take a cue from this.
