The recent big release on OTT, Anushka’s Nishabdham failed to live up to the expectations. Given its pale narration, absurd characterizations, and disappointing conclusion, Nishabdham has become a totally unbearable silence.
The filmmakers had no other choice except to release it on OTT, which remained a great decision yet, as the theatrical release could have left them with big loud losses. How could have been Nishabdham turned out in the parallel world where the actors were different?
It is learned that Nishabdham was earlier planned with Regina Cassandra in the lead role with the film totally be silent without any dialogues. Director Hemanth Madhukar reportedly narrated the script to Regina for the movie to be made in a PVP banner with a simple budget. Somehow, the project found its way to Kona Venkat from PVP and the writer-director suggested Anushka for the lead role.
Anushka replaced Regina and Madhavan joined the film making it even bigger. With the plot and character development, the movie was made, Anushka’s presence just hyped the budget and the expectation, which otherwise would have been made with recoverable monies.
While Nishabdham received the thumbs down all over, the director’s idea of making a sequel for it is trolled big time.
