The General Elections in India have taken a toll on many film releases including the likes of Kalki 2898 AD and Devara postponing their dates. At the same time, a political-content-oriented film like Prathinidhi 2 is not even censored. And then, a film revolving around Gujarati content that has once shaken the whole of India also faced the axe now.
The much-anticipated release of Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna’s political drama ‘The Sabarmati Report’ has been postponed, adding to the list of films affected by the ongoing election season. Originally slated to hit screens on May 3, 2024, the film’s new release date is now set for August 2, 2024, as announced by Vikrant Massey himself on Instagram.
Directed by Ranjan Chandel, ‘The Sabarmati Report’ aims to uncover the truth behind the tragic Sabarmati Express incident, shrouded in secrecy for over two decades, and an investigation case that has shaken the whole of India for a decade. Although the film had been submitted for censor certification, a call advising a reconsideration of the release date led to the ultimate decision to reschedule it for August 2, 2024.
A buzz says that when released, “The Sabarmati Report” is going to be bigger than “The Kashmiri Files”.
