This summer, people are not interested in stepping outside their homes. In such a situation, expecting them to enter theatres to watch a re-released movie is not a good idea.
However, Rajamouli’s action-epic, RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, is gearing up for a re-release on May 10, to defy all odds and bring audience to theatres.
It has to be noted that RRR hit the screens just two years ago. After the sensational theatrical run, it has garnered multiple viewings on both television and OTT platforms.
Last year, it was re-released after Naatu Naatu’s Oscar win. However, the response from the people was underwhelming at that time.
Going by that experience, many are questioning the logic behind yet another re-release. Just last week, Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab was re-released to make a political impact, but it failed to bring audiences to theatres. People fear that the same thing may happen to RRR.
Moreover, audiences seem more interested in experiencing older films in cinema halls rather than relatively recent releases like RRR, which is still fresh in audiences’ memories. Thus, the decision to re-release the movie raised eyebrows across the industry.
Meanwhile, people are more excited about Rajamouli’s upcoming project with Superstar Mahesh Babu. Touted to be a globe-trotting action adventure, this movie is expected to hit the floors later this year.
