Sandalwood drugs case has rocked the South film fraternity. Actress Ragini Dwivedi, who was arrested in connection with the drugs case, has been injured in jail. Apparently, Ragini had fallen in jail and hurt her back.
Ragini said she has not recovered although she was being treated at the Bengaluru Central Prison hospital. The latest is the actress has moved the Special Court for NDPS Cases and filed a petition seeking permission to get treatment from any private hospital.
Ragini’s advocate told the Special Court that Ragini has been suffering from severe back pain and treatment in jail has not helped her. Ragini’s lawyer requested the court to permit her to get treatment at any private hospital for better treatment. He has also requested the court to permit Ragini to meet her family and her counsel.
Meanwhile, Ragini has filed another petition seeking directions from the Court to the police to return to her family members a tablet computer and a pendrive which were seized when her house was searched on Sep 4. This petition is yet to be heard.
Regarding Ragini’s petition seeking treatment at a private hospital, the Special Court has asked the CCB police about their objections. The court asked the Public Prosecutor to file objections if any. The court adjourned the hearing. It can be noted that Ragini was arrested on September 4 by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in connection with the drugs case in Bangalore. She has been in Bengaluru Central jail since September 14.
