In a shocking tale of sorts, these days some producers are announcing high-stakes movies and then calling them off.
This is not the first time it happened, but it happened three times in a row. What exactly is happening in Tollywood at the moment is something movie lovers are curious about.
We have this film of a mega hero, announced on a high note, but later the film got called off as the budget is said to be touching nearly ₹70+ crores, while the hero’s market is approximately ₹35+ crores, for a hit film, including non-theatrical rights and theatrical sales.
At the same time, another film of a happening Tier-2 hero who has no competitor in that league, which was announced and got called off due to budget issues raised the eyebrows. Though other producers are overtaking this project, surely a big producer’s exit means something is happening inside.
Some say that these producers are announcing some films only to keep OTT folks engaged with back-to-back talks, and after finishing the deals related to their current films in hand, the producers are mercilessly giving up on the ones they announced earlier.
Looks like most of the big-stake films are simply bait to sell theatrical rights of other movies in hand, but nothing else.
