Most of us might be aware that Bollywood Superstar Aamir Khan’s older son Junaid Khan will be working next in a film with Sai Pallavi, with behind-the-scenes photos of the duo shooting in Japan making the rounds on social media.
While many were under the assumption that this film, reportedly titled Ek Din, was going to be Junaid’s debut, turns out the young star kid will be featuring soon in Maharaj, a Netflix Original film produced by Yash Raj Entertainment. What is interesting is Maharaj and Junaid’s film with Sai Pallavi are directed by the same director Siddharth P Malhotra.
Maharaj, set in the late 19th century, is based on real life incidents. Junaid will be playing a journalist investigating the allegations against a religious leader behaving inappropriately with his female devotees.
Maharaj also stars Arjun Reddy-actress Shalini Pandey, along with Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharvari. While there were some speculations that Netflix hesitated to release Maharaj due to its sensitive topic potentially offending many people, the streaming giant put these rumours to rest by adding Maharaj to their 2024 content slate.
Maharaj is set to release on June 14. A poster of the film was released as well, which show Jaideep playing the religious leader pitted against Junaid’s character.
In addition to these two films in his kitty, Junaid will also be working next with Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor in the Hindi remake of Love Today.
