Ramoji Rao Missed A Century!

The demise of Ramoji Rao left a void in the media world. He was the bastion of the Telugu media on the national front. That is the reason why his death has become a personal loss for everyone in the Telugu land.

Besides owning Eenadu newspaper and channels, Ramoji Rao is also a celebrated producer. He bankrolled many memorable films under his banner Usha Kiron Movies. He produced a total of 85 films in various languages under this banner.

Multiple talented directors and actors were introduced or given a breakthrough by Usha Kiron Movies. Prathighatana, Mayuri, Mouna Poratam, Manasu Mamatha, Ashwani, Nuvve Kavali, Anandam and People’s Encounter are some of the successful films produced by Ramoji Rao. His last production venture was Dagudumoothala Dandakor, which featured Rajendra Prasad in the lead role. Director Krish presented this movie and RK Malineni had directed it.

According to the sources, Ramoji Rao wanted to hit a century by bankrolling 15 more movies. It is heard that Usha Kiron Movies also held talks with renowned directors and got some stories ready. Advances were given to a few directors as well. In 2019, Ramoji Rao wanted to revive Usha Kiron Movies.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic, the change in the theatre culture and the shift in audiences’ mindsets made Ramoji Rao withdraw his plans for a while. In that way, he passed away with an unfulfilled desire of producing 100 films.
