22 Years Of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Published by

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the most iconic movie from the 90’s has left a lot of people teary eyed with its ups and downs. Karan Johar had accomplished his desire of culminating two parts, one that was inspired by Archie Comics and one that of an emotional roller coaster. Karan Johar made his directorial debut with this movie and managed to include bits and pieces of his life into the scenes, like that one when Rahul’s daughter Anjali is supposed to speak about her mother. This movie will forever be very close to Karan’s heart but it will be much more special to us because of what the movie has taught us. Let’s see what the entire movie has managed to teach us.

Love is friendship: “Pyaar dosti hai”

Rahul might have given us an amazing relationship advice. If you can’t share things with your significant other like you could with your best friend, is it even love? Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has also taught us that friendship is the first step towards love. During the 90’s when movies were all about simply falling in love, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has taught us that, there is more about love than what meets the eye. It’s a process that beautifully changes from friendship to love. Rahul and Anjali managed to teach us that its beautiful when you can be comfortable and open with your partners as comfortable as you are with your friends.

You are beautiful when you are ‘you’.

In the movie, when Anjali notices Rahul paying more attention to Tina she tries to dress more like Tina, apply makeup and tries to impress him. But, as soon as she enters the college everyone including Rahul makes fun of her. She feels embarrassed and runs away. Rahul reminds her that he loves his best friend for whatever she is and she will always be his best friend no matter how she looks. What we did learn from this movie is that you don’t need to change yourself for someone to fall in love with you. Be you and the right one will come along.

“Dil ki bat dil mein nahin rehni chahiye”.

Rifat bi has said it and said it loud; she kept saying this to Anjali all the time. However, the movie shows us that when we suppress our feelings and not do anything about them, there is nothing left except pain and regret. It’s better to express what you feel and get it over with than regretting it for a much longer time.

Love happens when you haven’t even planned for it

When Rifat bi kept warning Anjali that she might never know how or when her friendship could turn into love, she just shrugged it off. But our tomboy fell head over heels for the snob Rahul. In the same way, Rahul didn’t even in his wildest dreams think of falling for our tomboy. But, oh Boy! He did. Don’t go looking for love guys; it will happen when it is supposed to.

You can find love again

Yes, Rahul kept saying “Hum ek baar jete hai, ek baar marte hai. Shaadi ek baar karte hai aur pyaar bhi ek hi baar hota hai.” But, little did he know, that he would find Anjali again and fall crazily in love with her. So, don’t shut off your expectations about love, you may never know when you may find your Anjali again.
