Tollywood, aka Telugu film industry, is one industry that constantly churns out good films. They are not just good films but also workable films at the pan-India level. Telugu films never disappoint a large scale of audiences, and within the industry, there is always competition and, sometimes, a war to grab the release dates. However, the recent Summer season witnessed a dry spell at the ticket windows. Now, everyone is of the opinion that poor planning is behind the lack of proper releases.
After the announcement of the postponement of Pushpa: The Rule, everyone was inclined to think that the producers did not plan the films properly and didn’t give enough time for the directors to do the pre-production. We can not always blame the producers, but sometimes, the dates issue pushes the actors and filmmakers to greenlight the project first.
The poor planning and insufficient time being spent on the pre-production will make things difficult for the teams to achieve the output in the desired timelines. As a result, to avoid a compromise, many movies got postponed recently. It is definitely an unhealthy trend picking up in Telugu cinema in recent times.
On the other hand, the directors take months and years to finish a film and it can also be attributed to poor planning of the directors. It is true that the Tollywood filmmakers are trying to up the scale of the films and create wonders at the pan-India and pan-world levels.
But, in the process, they are becoming the reason for the delayed releases. With the emergence of OTTs, if there are no proper films in theatres, the audiences will lose the habit of visiting the big screens which will affect the overall revenue of the film industry.
