Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan’s personal and cricket life is planned to be made as a biopic with Vijay Sethupathi in lead. The Tamil Nadu political parties along with many others objected it as Muttaiah allegedly never resisted the attacks on Tamilians in Sri Lanka. Many have been demanding Vijay Sethupathi to refuse the offer to play Muttaih’s biopic 800 as he will be seen as a betrayer thereafter is he does the film.
While the senior directors like Bharatiraja asked Vijay to withdraw from the movie, Radhika Sarathkumar questioned why people are making it an issue. The senior actress asked why the same people did not revolt against the decision of Sun Network when they brought in the talented spinner as a coach for the team Sunrisers in the IPL.
Amid all the controversies, the man himself, Muttiah Muralitharan issued a response on his 800 and the chaos around the film that’s digging up allegations made against him in the past. Muttiah says he did not want to allow the filmmakers to make his biopic in the first place. But when the makers are trying to show the struggles his parents faced and the effort his coach and teachers put in for his growth as an international cricketer, Muttiah agreed to the movie.
Muttiah also said he would have tried to play for India if he was born here. He expressed his anguish on how he was misunderstood ever since he started playing for the Sri Lanka team. Muttiah speaks about how he was pictured as anti-Tamil and he ridiculed the versions of writings that attributed the killings to the words when he said 2009 as his best year.
Muttiah denies hurting anyone so far and he reveals how he had been supporting the welfare of kids and women in the country. The legend cricketer said he helped many Tamilians in Sri Lanka and asked all to stop making these false allegations.
