With sky-high expectations Kalki 2898 AD is hitting the screens today worldwide. Here is our exclusive first report from the USA premiere.
First Half :
A very good start with the Mahabharata episode, and the setup to the whole plot is really impressive.
While Prabhas has taken on a fun character after a long time, his screen presence in the first half is limited but excitingly set up for the second half. The episodes featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone are highlights of the first half.
The intermission is very well executed and effectively sets up the second half. The background score is impactful in places, and the ‘Hollywood range’ visuals are absolutely stunning for a theatrical watch.
Second Half :
Compared to the first half, the second half is very gripping and impactful. The climax episodes are some of the best designed in Indian Cinema. Nag Ashwin magnificently unfolded Prabhas’ character at the end. A great setup for the KALKI CINEMATIC UNIVERSE.
All the lead cast nailed it in the second half. The cameos of Vijay Deverakonda & Dulquer Salmaan are spot on.
Overall, Kalki is definitely the film from India to the world audiences as the story is rooted from Mahabharata epic.
Although there are pacing concerns here and there, this is a great start to an epic cinematic universe of India!
A Visual Epic Extravaganza.
