The director of the recent hit film “HanuMan”, Prashanth Varma, appears to be generating excessive hype around his upcoming projects even before any progress has been made on them.
After the unexpected success of “HanuMan”, Varma is reported to have put other projects on hold, including the launch film of DVV Danayya’s son. However, he conducted a test shoot with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and widely publicized it in the media. Ultimately, Ranveer ended up walking away from the project for undisclosed reasons.
Now, even before any concrete details have emerged, Varma is already hyping up his film with Nandamuri Mokshagna, the son of a prominent Telugu film star. Trade experts caution that this kind of premature hype may not be advisable, as debut films of many star kids in Tollywood have ended up flops.
Generating excessive publicity and buzz around projects that are still in early stages runs the risk of overhyping the films and setting unrealistic expectations. Hope Prashanth Varma is taking stock of this.
