Surprise: Telangana Approves Hike For Bharateeyudu 2

Published by

Increasing ticket prices for pan-India films with large budgets is not new. We have recently seen this in the case of Kalki 2898 AD. Now, Kamal Haasan’s Bharateeyudu 2 also passed the test in getting approval for hiked ticket prices in Telangana state.

The Telangana government has allowed an additional fifth show and raised ticket prices by Rs. 75 for multiplexes and Rs. 50 for single screens.

Interestingly, there isn’t much buzz around “Indian 2,” and bookings in Tamil Nadu have been slow. The business relies heavily on the hope that the film will receive extraordinary word-of-mouth. The buzz is not very encouraging in Telangana as well, but the makers wanted to benefit from hiked prices.

On the other hand, some of the netizens are not happy with the government hiking prices for a dubbing film. The point is that the Telugu films like Baahubali, RRR and Kalki never received special rates or benefit shows in Tamilnadu but the Telangana government cleared the path for a Tamil dubbed film.

This once again proves that Telugu industry does not discriminate between straight and dubbed films, offering them the same treatment.

The price hike might be justified if the movie receives excellent reviews and public response, but even average feedback could prove problematic. The filmmakers have also requested a price increase in Andhra Pradesh, which is likely to be approved.
