The recent legal action taken by the production house Vyjayanthi Movies against two self-proclaimed critics has garnered widespread public support. The producers of the blockbuster film Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, have reportedly sent legal notices to BO trackers/critics, demanding they substantiate their claims about the movie’s box office collections.
While Kalki 2898 AD has been a colossal hit, entering the prestigious ₹1000 Cr club and breaking several box office records, these self-proclaimed box office trackers have been making claims that the film’s collections are “fake” or exaggerated. Vyjayanthi Movies, the producer of Kalki 2898 AD, has taken strong exception to these allegations and is heard to have issued legal notices demanding that the trackers provide the sources for their data and a detailed territorial breakdown of the collections.
The public has largely welcomed Vyjayanthi Movies’ decision to take legal action against the fishy box office trackers, stating that such malicious intent should not be allowed to go unchecked. “It’s high time these self-proclaimed experts were held accountable for their claims,” said one user on social media. “Kudos to Vyjayanthi Movies for taking a stand and demanding transparency. This will set a precedent for others who try to discredit genuine box office successes”, another tweeted.
The public’s support for Vyjayanthi Movies’ legal action highlights the importance of accountability in the film industry. Box office data and analysis play a crucial role in shaping public perception and the industry’s overall health.
