When Chiru’s Dance Scared Nagarjuna

The Akkineni family presented the ANR National Award for the current year to Megastar Chiranjeevi. Amitabh Bachchan attended the event as a special guest to present the award to Chiranjeevi. Nagarjuna shared an emotional speech at the event, explaining how happy he and his family is, to present the award to Chiranjeevi. During his speech, he also recollected some fond memories with Megastar.

“In 1985, when I wanted to debut in cinema, Chiranjeevi garu was doing a film at Annapurna Studios. My father asked me to check how Chiru garu was dancing. That day, looking at the grace and charisma in his dances, I felt a little scared and wondered if I could match him in dances. Then, I thought I would switch my career plans,” shared Nagarjuna.

Nagarjuna also shared another fond memory, explaining how down-to-earth Chiranjeevi is.

“When we are presenting an award to Amitabh garu a few years ago, I asked Chiranjeevi garu to attend the event. I told him that there is a protocol that I could not call him up on the stage. However, he gracefully accepted it and sat in front of the stage. Later, he sought permission from me to decorate Amit garu with a shawl. It shows his humbleness,” said Nagarjuna.

“If you are taking something from the society, you must give something to society is what My father always believed in. Chiranjeevi garu had this quality,” said Nagarjuna.
