Dasara proved to be a dud for the Telugu film industry as none of the festive releases managed to do well at the box office. After Devara, there was no significant business done by any film. But, Diwali turned out to be a firecracker at the Tollywood box office as all released movies managed to do well by gaining positive responses from the audience.
This Diwali, there were three releases in Telugu: Kiran Abbavaram’s Ka, Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar and Siva Karthikeyan’s dubbed flick Amaran.
Kiran’s Ka is a mystery thriller filled with a lot of commercial elements. The film has been received well by the audience and special appreciation is being given to the last 30 minutes. The movie is doing a good business in the B and C centres, due to its commercial factors. On the other side, Lucky Baskhar is being praised for his clever screenplay and engaging narration.
Dulquer once again proved that he is a lucky charm in Tollywood. His presence and the movie’s plot are helping the film do good business in multiplexes. Amaran, which is a biopic of Major Mukundan, is an emotional ride. It also appeals to urban audiences.
While Ka is ruling B and C centres, Lucky Baskhar and Amaran are doing well in the multiplexes and A centres. On the whole, this Diwali turned out to be a blockbuster season for Tollywood with all released doing well.
