Varun Tej is one such hero who always tries to experiment irrespective of his previous film’s results. The likes of Kanche, Anthariksham, Gandeevadhari Arjun and Operation Valentine. Now, he is coming up with a period-action thriller named Matka, directed by Karuna Kumar of Palasa fame.
The recently released teaser got a good response from the viewers and now, the makers released the theatrical trailer of the film. Matka traces the life of a gangster named Vasu who rises from rags to riches. Going by the trailer, we get reminisced of Kamal Haasan’s Nayakudu and Sharwanand’s Ranarangam to an extent. As per the story’s demands, Varun Tej is seen in different getups, portraying different stages of the character’s life.
The dialogues are written well, commercially depicting life’s philosophy. Varun Tej pulled off every look very well and if the movie manages to do good at the box office, it may remain one of the landmark performances of his career. We get only glimpses of other actors like Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nora Fatehi, Naveen Chandra and Ajay Ghosh and nothing about their characters is revealed in the trailer. On the whole, Matka looks like a solid gangster drama which follows the life of an individual right from the beginning to the end of his life. It has to be seen how it fares at the box office.
Matka is slated for worldwide release on November 14 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada.
