Taking a point or a few characters from the Indian mythology and linking that point or the characters with a protagonist and an antagonist in the contemporary era along with enough drama, action and divinely thumping background score seems to be the latest go to formula for the filmmakers these days to score a hit at the Box Office.
Prasanth Varma earlier this year used this formula so well and scored a huge blockbuster with Hanuman. He is now coming up with Devaki Nandana Vasudeva with Ashok Galla as a hero. The difference this time is that Prasanth Varma only provided the story to the film and let Arjun Jandyala to direct the film.
The film is getting ready to release in theatres on 22nd November and the makers release the trailer today at an event in Hyderabad with Rana Daggubati and Sundeep Kishan as chief guests. Going by the trailer, it looks like Prasanth Varma wrote the story by using the references of Lord Krishna and Kamsa, his uncle(i.e. Mena Mama) from Mahabharat and linked it with Ashok Galla, the protagonist of the film and Devdatta Gajanan, the antagonist of the film.
Devdatta Gajanan’s menacing screen presence, background score by Bheems Ceciroleo and the visual of Lord Krishna at the end looks impressive in the trailer. Watch out for Sanjay Swaroop’s look as a policeman in the trailer. For the first time ever, he is seen with a moustache in a film. If Arjun Jandyala manages to come up with interesting screenplay, the film has a good chance to work out at the Box Office utilising the present craze among audience for socio fantasy films linked with mythology.
Varanasi Manasa did the female role and Jhansi played the role of protagonist’s mother. The film is releasing in theatres on 22nd November along with Vishwak Sen’s, Mechanic Rocky and Satya Dev’s Zebra.
