Tamil superstar Suriya’s much anticipated big-ticket magnum opus Kanguva released on Thursday amidst high expectations from both trade circles and moviegoers due to the scintillating visuals in the trailers and the impressive promotional campaign by the team. However, the opening day figures didn’t match the hype and hysteria around the film due to mixed talk and mediocre reviews.
Despite having grand canvas with a star-studded cast, Kanguva couldn’t meet the expectations of viewers due to lack of watertight screenplay and strong narrative. Devi Sri Prasad’s background music also came as a slight disappointment.
Producer Gnanavel Raja reacted on the first day talk and the negative feedback from all sections of audiences in his latest press meet. He remained optimistic about the long run and expressed confidence that Kanguva will emerge as the highest grossing film in Suriya’s career.
He confirmed that the sequel for Kanguva is very much on and also asserted that the second part will be more exciting and grand. He revealed that Kanguva 2 will be made on a bigger scale with massive budget. He informed that director Siva will do a film with Thala Ajith before working on the sequel.
Reacting on the negativity around the loud background score, Gnanavel came in support Devi Sri Prasad. He clarified that it was not the fault of the composer, but due to some mistakes in the sound mixing. The producer accepted stated that there is negative feedback only for the first twenty minutes featuring the episode of Francis character, but the rest of the film is ticket’s worth for viewers.
The box office fate of Kanguva will be known by the end of the first weekend. The film needs to overcome mixed talk and perform exceedingly well in the opening weekend to attain hit status. And for that to happen, the collections need a huge turnaround after what is said to be a disappointing start by trade analysts.
