Bollywood has been producing more big-budget mythological movies ever since the Baahubali movies emerged as earth-shattering blockbusters. Star producer Vashu Bhagnani is producing a mythological drama based on the legendary warrior Ashwatthama. Amazon Studios is the producing partner.
Shahid Kapoor plays the lead role. According to the latest reports, the movie is being put on hold due to being over budget.
Shahid Kapoor’s Ashwatthama was planned to be made in Rs 500 crore and the movie is highly anticipated. The movie is now said to be facing challenges from budget and logistics and has halted for now.
Ashwatthama was designed to be one of Amazon Prime Video’s most ambitious productions in India. The idea was to create a large-scale fantasy action film and the movie was supposed to be shot across multiple countries.
The budget seems to have gone way beyond Rs 500 crore and the makers have reportedly put it on hold. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan recently played the character of Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD and garnered a great response.
