Kanguva, A Big Speed-Breaker For Karna?

Suriya pinned many hopes on his recent release, Kanguva. The period action drama disappointed everyone big time and miserably failed to impress at the box office. Siva directed the film, which starred Disha Pathani in the female lead role. Now, the failure of Kanguva is reportedly impacting Suriya’s debut in Hindi cinema.

Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra wanted to introduce Suriya to Hindi audiences through an ambitious mythological drama titled Karna. The film’s pre-production has been underway for quite some time now. At multiple occasions, Rakeysh confirmed that the project is on and the prep work is happening at a brisk pace. But, the latest reports confirm that the producers backed out of the film.

The exact reason why the producers, Excel Entertainment, backed out of the film is unknown. But, the sources say that the high budget of the film is a reason for the producers moving away. The director mounted the film on a huge budget of 600 Cr rupees. It is relatively high amount and spending it on a new hero for the market is not going to be easy.

On the top of that, the collections of Kanguva is witnessing a decline with each passing day. The team expected a high performance in Bollywood but Suriya’s film is a misfire. He does not have a big market in Hindi now. At a time like this, making Karna on such a big budget is definitely risky and the producers might have backed out for the same reason.

On the other hand, Suriya will next be seen in a film, directed by RJ Balaji.
