After the release of Baahubali, film budgets went up. Many filmmakers aspired to make movies on big scales. Many movies like Brahmasthra, RRR, Kalki 2898 AD, and others came up after Baahubali and were made on big budgets close to 500 Cr rupees. But do you know that there is a TV series on Sony TV that is made on the highest budget? The series is titled Porus.
Porus is a historical drama television series based on the Battle of the Hydaspes. The series is about Porus, ruler of the Paurava Kingdom in India, and Alexander the Great, the king of Macedonia. It is the most expensive show on Indian television, having a budget of about INR 500 crores. Each episode was given a budget of more than 2 crores, making it an expensive series.
Baahubali 2 was made with a budget of 250 Cr rupees while Brahmasthra was made with an amount of 350 Cr rupees. Jawan and Singham Again are made on a budget of 300 Cr rupees and 350 Cr rupees, respectively. Even then, Porus remains a bigger project than some of the biggest Indian films ever made. The series also won the tag – the Baahubali of Television.
