The recently released Tamil film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has been at the center of an unexpected controversy. Recently, an engineering student named Vageeshan filed a police complaint claiming that his personal phone number had been used in the movie. The makers used a phone number as Sai Pallavi’s number in the film.
It resulted in Vageesan, who owns the number receiving an influx of unwanted calls and messages from strangers. The student stated that these incessant calls disrupted his studies and sleep, causing immense distress. Hence, he has reportedly demanded ₹1.1 crore as compensation for the same. However, there is no official confirmation or statement from the film unit regarding the same.
Amaran was released during Diwali and is based on the life of Mukund Varadarajan, who was martyred while serving in the Indian Army. Sivakarthikeyan played the role of Mukund, while Sai Pallavi portrayed his wife, Rebecca Varghese.
The film, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and produced under Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International banner. The movie grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide.
