Oscar winning composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu ended their 29 years of togetherness with the announcement of mutual divorce on November 19th. Saira first released a press note to the media through her lawyer to reveal the news and AR Rahman also confirmed the same the next day morning with an official statement.
As soon as this new came out, several media houses and YouTube channels started speculating about the reasons for their alienation after living together for nearly three decades. As Rahman’s bassist Mohini also announced seperation at the same time, there have been numerous concocted stories all over about the alleged link-up rumours between the two.
Reacting on these baseless stories, Rahman shared a legal notice threatening those slandering him and his family, speculating about the reason behind their separation. He issued a stern warning to YouTubers, online portals and other media channels to not hurt his family and avoid spreading rumours about his relationship.
Now, Saira released an audio statement on Sunday to slam these unverified reports. In her message, she called her estranged husband the best man in the world and requested privacy for both of them during the tough and painful times. She stated the decision was mutual and needs no further speculations. She called him an amazing human being.
” I trust him with my life. That’s how much I love him, and that’s how he does. I request you all to stop speculating. God bless! And my sincere prayers that we are left alone and given space at this moment. We are not announcing anything officially yet. You need to stop tarnishing his name. This is absolutely rubbish,” she concluded the statement.
Saira also revealed that she is currently in Bombay and have been there for the last couple of months on medical treatment. “That’s the reason I wanted to take a break from AR. But, I would request the YouTubers and media not to say anything bad against him”, requested his ex-wife.
