Senior IPS officer and former CID Chief N. Sanjay has been suspended by the government of Andhra Pradesh over his alleged financial irregularities in official capacity when he worked as Director General of Fire Services.
Reportedly, prima-facie investigation by Vigilance and Enforcement department revealed that Sanjay misappropriated government money by colluding with a private firm Sauthrika Technologies and Infra Pvt. Ltd towards purchase of software for fire services department in Andhra Pradesh. It is alleged that Sanjay resorted to bid rigging and approved tenders in a biased and unethical manner to favor the company with ‘Quid Pro Quo’ dealings.
The government ordered immediate suspended of Sanjay and directed him to not leave the headquarters. He is a 1996 batch IPS officer who worked in various capacities in the united Andhra Pradesh.
When Jagan Mohan Reddy was the Chief Minister of the state, Sanjay worked as the Chief of CID and orchestrated the controversial arrest of the then Opposition leader and TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu. At the behest of Jagan, Sanjay arraigned Naidu in Skill Development Case in a dubious manner and alleged that 279 Crores out of the 351 Crores from Skill Development fund was siphoned off.
Sanjay later alleged that CBN’s Nara Lokesh was involved in Fiber Net Case and tried to even arrest him after a few weeks when Naidu was put behind bars. However, Lokesh approached the High Court and stalled the move. Sanjay was also the one who visited the ailing Ramoji Rao last year and grilled him several hours in Margadarsi Chit Fund case foisted by the previous government.
After the NDA government came to power in June this year, Sanjay tried to meet Chandrababu Naidu and mollify him. But, he didn’t secure Naidu’s appointment and returned without meeting him. He was later directed to report to the DGP office by the Chief Secretary without issuing any posting orders. Since then, Sanjay has been facing numerous allegations over embezzlement of funds through abuse of power.
After making a thorough investigation into his irregularities, the government of Andhra Pradesh has finally cracked a whip against the errant bureaucrat who blindly followed the directions of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
