The unstoppable box-office momentum of Pushpa 2: The Rule shows no signs of slowing down, even with high ticket prices. The film’s phenomenal run in its first four days has left trade analysts wondering what heights it will reach once normal ticket rates are implemented.
Several films are set to compete in the crowded Christmas lineup, hoping to secure screens despite Pushpa 2’s dominance.
Allari Naresh’s Bachala Malli, Priyadarshi’s Sarangapani Jathakam, Upendra’s UI, Vijay Sethupathi’s Vidudala Part 2, Hollywood’s Mufasa: The Lion King are lined up for a release next. Naresh is coming up with a mass drama while Darshi wants to test his luck with comedy. UI and Vidudala 2 are dubbing films. Both the films have decent craze.
Meanwhile, the Christmas weekend will also see Nithin’s Robin Hood, Vennela Kishore’s Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes, Kiccha Sudeep’s Max and Baby John.
If Pushpa 2’s storm continues, many of these films might struggle to secure screens. Exhibitors may prefer to keep the blockbuster in theaters, given its consistent footfall and revenue generation. This intense box-office clash might have been more balanced if the film had performed averagely.
However, Pushpa 2’s aggressive march toward becoming an industry hit has raised concerns for competing releases, making this holiday season’s box office race one to watch.
